Queenstown

Queenstown is magical ⭐ We did this trip in 2024, and I find myself thinking about it nearly every week since. It was my first visit here.
We enjoyed just walking around the centre of Queenstown and finding a spot to just sit. We also loved the Queenstown Gardens. We did plan to do some hiking and more exploring, but in the end we just wanted to admire the view (which wasn’t hide to find) and eat good food (tick and tick!).
A highlight was Milford Sound (more on this below).

We stayed at Kamana Lakehouse for a few days which was pretty close to the centre of Queenstown. We could take a bus there and back which was super easy and quick, or some days we did the walk down which was about 40 minutes one way. They have a restaurant (Nest restaurant) with an epic view and yummy food too!

Fergburger
You can’t go to Queenstown and not have a Ferg.
I’m not ashamed to say we ate here 4 times (maybe 5?) on our trip.
We loved it.

Ferg also has a bakery next door, and gelato close by!
Other food recs:
Goku for Japanese food – so yum
No.5 Church lane was fancy Indian food (it was delicious!)
Odd Saint for breakfast
We tried a couple of other restaurants, but these were better 🙂
but overall… we didn’t get to try too many other places because… Ferg…

Milford Sound
This was a highlight. Our trip got rescheduled 3 or 4 times due to bad weather, but we eventually made it! Were lucky because it was raining earlier in the day so we got to see some epic waterfalls. I would recommend getting their by plane because the views are really cool and worth it.

Stoneridge Estate
We stayed here for the last two nights in Queenstown. It was even more beautiful than the pictures.
We had bad weather on one of the days, (it was freeezing, raining hard and horizontal!, and there was barely a view to be found). Luckily there was a comfortable common area outside our room, with a fireplace and games.
The next day the sky cleared up, and we got to enjoy the most amazing views from our room!
We enjoyed the breakfast here. They sat as by the window with a beautiful view of the mountains and the estates gardens, and by a fireplace to warm up. Would recommend this stay!

I’d love to go back soon. Let me know your Queenstown recs!
